Ukrainian-American Birth Defects Program
Khmelnytsky joins the Network
We have the honor to inform you that Ukrainian - American Birth Defects Program activity is spreading in Ukraine!
The Program started two years ago and, being effectively realized in Volyn and Rivne oblasts, was bound to be successful. It gave our medical specialists the possibility to surmount the growing gulf between the rapid progress of medical science (genetics in particular) and significant informational dearth.
There were established the Volyn and Rivne UABDP Information Centers, which were equipped with modern computers. Those Centers activity aim is to provide doctors and people with up-to-date information about birth defects diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. In their work information specialists use fundamental monographs on topical questions of genetics, dysmorphology, neonatology, and other branches of medicine, kindly given by Dr. W. Wertelecki, and Internet resourses as well.

It is situated in the Medical - Genetic Consultation of Khmelnytsky Delivery Hospital. Volyn Center specialists gave us the benefit of their own work organization experience, assisted to install computer equipment, which would help to lead an active work, to provide doctors and interested people with important information, since parents and relatives of birth defects patients have all the rights to know the latest achievements in the field of birth defects diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.
