The Orphans Early Stimulation Project that was presented by Ms. Kateryna Babiets (the UAPBD Rivne Branch Coordinator) attracted the special interest of the audience. This project was started in Rivne in November 2002 under the support of the Ukrainian-American Birth Defects Program. The goal of this project is to promote the intellectual and mental development of infants-orphans of the Rivne Orphan House. Ten students-volunteers of the Rivne State Humanitarian University (Pre-School Pedagogic Chair) play the key role in this project. They work under the supervision of the experienced teachers, the educational specialists, and the medical professionals. One of the main outcomes of the project should be reducing of the delay in the infants-orphans' mental development. At the same time, its role in formation of maturity and personality of future educational specialists can't be overestimated.
